Everybody has a time or two in their lives when they question what it is they are doing or if they are going in the right direction. Usually those times come in a moment of difficulty, when it seems like everything they’re doing is falling down around them; I know it did for me.
It’s never as bad as it seems, in the moment though you may not see it that way.
The question is what to do you do in those moments doubt?
When you really think about it, they really are just moments in time and in a very short time they will have passed. I’ve found that when those moments come along it helps me if I have goals or a plan in place to keep me focused on what is most important to me. I may have set backs but they are always temporary.
About a year ago I came across a post on Michael Hyatt’s blog about putting a life plan together. While goals and planning weren’t a novel idea to me the idea of planning your life as you want to live it by working from death backwards was. Since then I’ve read about others who have taught the concept or one very similar.
The concept is simple; you start with writing your own obituary. (Kind of morbid but it works). You write it as you want others to see you upon your death. Once you have done that, you begin working backwards to develop your life plan in a way that reflects those characteristic you described in your obituary.
Michael Hyatt does a great job of explaining in his ebook My Life Plan and I would recommend that you download it. It’s free.
So if you are in doubt, don’t despair, it’s only temporary.
How do you deal with those moments in your life when you question what it is you are doing?
